60 million users in United States alone, 150 million unique monthly visitors worldwide, half of which visits everyday. Impressive statistics right? These are the latest numbers provided by ComScore.com on Facebook. The Facebook phenomena has swept across the world. Nielsen and NetRatings made studies on the population hooked on Facebook: 50% of its United States users are female, 60% has had college education, 14% are non Caucasians, 34% are professionals holding various posts from executive to technical, 12% are full time students, and 12% have families or children with ages under 16 years old.

With these available data, internet marketers now have the idea on which strategies to use effectively in doing online marketing. If you have plans of marketing products through Facebook, your marketing plans should be made around these figures but careful consideration that these social media demographics will change in the next 8-12 months.

You only need to understand the whole system, how it works to benefit your business. Understand how groups meet, their rhythm. Most importantly identify the needs of the users. It relies mainly on sharing information, communicating through wall comments, pictures, videos, and encouraging activities found on the discussion board.
