As an internet marketer, you know that getting website visitors is not the end of everything. They must give positive responses such as buying your product or clicking through your PPC ads. But before they can be buyers, you have to keep them longer on your site. A minute or two of browsing is not enough time to convince them to respond.
That is if they can stay for at least a minute or so. However, most website visitors may stay for only a second to browse if you actually have what they’re looking for. Sometimes, even if you don’t have exactly what they’re looking for if they find it interesting, they will take time to read and explore.

If you can’t make them stay for a longer period of time, you have a very slim chance of getting them to do what exactly you want them to do—buy your product or click through your pay per click ads. Hence, it is imperative that your website visitors should stay a little longer on your site to get positive response from them.
Here are some tips. They’re not exhaustive but could at least help you. 1) Offer fresh and valuable contents. This is not actually new. If you have been reading articles about internet marketing, you must have come across this line and probably are tired of reading this over and over again that it no longer has an effect on you once it is mentioned.
But I tell you that this is very important and should not be taken for granted. As often been said, a fresh content is one that is new or different from what others have been writing about; while a valuable content is one which adds value to website visitors or something that can solve their problem.
You just have to ensure that they are relevant to your niche. 2) Add pictures, video or audio clips to make your site more interesting. Just make sure though that they’re of good quality, won’t slow down the loading time and relevant as well. For example if you’re discussing about dog breeds, it’s more interesting to website visitors if you have pictures of the dog breeds you’re talking about.
Likewise, if you’re talking about dog training techniques, they can relate well if you have video clips showing them how it is done. 3) Allow your readers to comment on or even criticize your articles, pictures or videos. This does not only make your website visitors stay longer but also encourages them to share their opinions.
This is actually a good technique of getting ideas to improve your site. It also gives them a feeling of importance. And be kind and diligent enough to reply to their comments. 4) If you have enough resources, ask your website visitors to participate in a very short survey you offer in exchange for a free gift like an e-Book for example.
However, you must ensure that the survey question is short and easy and they only have to answer either a “yes” or a “no” by just clicking a button. You may want to ask them of their email address before they can get their free gift. This will also help you in building your email lists.
5) Design a professional looking website. This will give them the impression that you really are an expert in your niche making them read even more, because they believe that they can get something from you. These are just some of the many ideas that will make your website visitors stay longer.
As I’ve said they’re not exhaustive but will at least help you get a positive response.
