Another thing we should stay away from are historic dates like 9_11, Sept11, JULY4 and the likes. Keyboard sequences like QWERTY or ASDF are also very predictable. In your office, avoid writing your password in sticky notes, paper or anywhere else in particular. These things can be easily lost and can be found by anyone.
Shared accounts are also very tricky because if anything bad should happen, everyone who has access to it is accountable. You can never determine the culprit for any unpleasant activity done using the shared password. A strong online password would usually require letters either in caps or in lowercase, numbers, and alphanumeric characters combined altogether.
When signing up, for example an email account, most email service provider would test your chosen password for its strength and would also offer suggestions for better and stronger alternatives. Choose something you can be easily remember and easy to type in. Password strength is also determined by the number of characters used so it would be best to pick something that has more that six characters.
Use random selection of letters and numbers to drastically eliminate the element of predictability. Also when doing bank transactions through the automated teller machines, be cautious of the person standing behind you who might be ‘shoulder surfing’ just to get your password and hack your account. Regularly change your password using random characters.
Your online security as well as offline should always be on top of everything. You can never take this for granted or else you will face the possible consequences of damage and loss to your investments and might also bring harm to you and your family. The world is no longer a safe place, criminals are everywhere.
