Opt-in email is one of the must-haves for any affiliate marketer who maintains a web site. This gives their site visitors the option of receiving newsletters or updates in case they find the web site interesting. This is somehow the more positive version of spam mails because in this case, it is the customer who desires to receive email updates from web sites.

You don’t send newsletters to people who did not sign up otherwise you take the risk of becoming a spammer. Aside from getting a sale from each person who visits their web site, the least that online marketers want to get from each visit is for these people to be added to their opt-in email lists.

By getting the contact details of these visitors, online marketers will have better chances to capture more customers. Retaining customers on your web page can be a major dilemma as it is for many online marketers, too. Some internet users would just skim through your page without reading the details while others would buy but would not be able to sign up to your opt-in email lists.

Although you already made a sale, keeping in touch with your old and new customers thru newsletters can be a good long-term marketing strategy. Do not settle for a one-shot deal because you might not be able to make another sale with the same person again. Situation like this is a missed opportunity for any online marketer.

One option an affiliate marketer can do is to have a squeeze page where webmasters are able to get the email addresses of people visiting their site.

Others install certain tools on their page wherein they would be able to make their visitors stay on their sales page without being distracted. After your customers sign up, your autoresponder tool will be responsible to take care of delivering messages to these subscribers. Thus, it is equally important to have a reliable autoresponder to take care of this task.

Furthermore, most online marketers also use pop-ups to get customers’ contact details. Though convenient as it may seem, many internet users still dislike being bombarded by too many pages popping out on their screen. So, be careful in designing your pages. Only install tools that are not too distractive and quick to use.

Remember that your prospective customers do not have the patience to go over every page of your site. Make things quick. With the increase opt-in email lists, affiliate marketers will have good access to communicate with prospective customers. Don’t stop expanding your list. Make sure that every person is well-taken care of even if they have not made any purchase yet.

Even if they don’t, they might just recommend your product to their friends who are ready to buy at the moment.
