what the heck SEO is?

Well to put it simply SEO
is short for Search Engine
Optimization.
What does it do?
Basically it is a method of
analyzing and constructing
web pages or even whole
sites, so that they can be
discovered, analyzed, and
indexed by various search
engines such as Google
or Yahoo.
SEO makes the content of
your web pages more relevant,
more attractive, and more easily
read by search engines and
their crawling and indexing
software.

The search engine's web
crawler, spider or robot,
will browse your site in
an automated manner.
After crawling your site or page
the content can be "indexed"
or saved in a database
When a request for information

A match is determined if the
terms or phrase found on the
page is the same as that made
by the searcher.
Using their own algorithms,
search engines would then
rank all those matches from
most relevant to least relevant.
The higher your relevance the
higher the chances your site
or page will be shown on the
first page of the results.

page rank up so you do get
to be on the 1st page at the
very least.

number you go to a phone
book where the name of a
business or person is listed
in alphabetical order.
Online, when people want
something they simply type
in the words they think is
what they are looking for

do the searching for them.
The results often return pages
of information that the search
engine thinks is the closest to
what the customer asked for.
Now comes the best reason to
use SEO in internet marketing,
especially when it comes to
search engine results.

With that process in mind,
they will then see what can
be done to a website so that
search engines will rank it
higher.
This is important because
showing up higher in search
results usually means more
traffic and more traffic means
more business which equates
to more money for you.

are SEO tactics that are
above board and considered
ok to use, and then there
those that are down right
questionable and illegal,
at least to the eyes of
the search engines.
These are typically called
black hat tactics and should
not be used, that is unless
you want your site to be
de-ranked or worst yet
removed from the search
engine index so it never
gets found.
Besides, these tactics only
bring momentary gains.
