What Makes For A Good Web Site Design
Want to create your very own
website but don't have a clue
how to do that or have no idea
how to use HTML.
See how you can here.
It's an easy-to-follow step-by-
step guide to website building
especially for inexperienced
website builders.
************************************************************
You surf the net and happen
upon a website.
You click on the URL and you
are transported to the site
and you find yourself actually
staying around.
After that experience let me
ask you this question:
"What made you stay?"
What did you see in that
website to make you want
to stay a while longer.
What I'm saying is that the
characteristics that that
website had is what you
should emulate.
What are the characteristics
of a good website?
1. Simple yet attractive
design
Easier said than done.
A lot of website owners
seem to think that the
glitzier and complicated
the design the better
web site it is.
No so, unless you want
your potential customer
to run away to the
competition.
Your website's design should
NOT distract your visitors
from the content.
You want to the design to help
you get your message to
your visitors.
That means less is more.
By that I mean get rid of the
clutter factor.
And what is the clutter factor?
It's those moving images and
flash animations that, while
they look good in moderation,
can utterly destroy what you
want to convey to your visitors.
It's actually better for your
visitor if you put less stuff
on the homepage and simply
let them to easily find the
information they are
looking for.
2. Easy and intuitive
navigation.
And speaking of letting your
visitors find the information
they want easier, you need
to have an easy and intuitive
navigation in place.
It means that the navigation
should not be such that
your visitor will have trouble
knowing where to click
to move to another area
of your website.
Put your website menu in
one central location and
make it visible on all the
pages of your website
where it is easy to see.
3. Good quality content.
People go online to find
solutions or information for
what is on their minds.
This means that you want
to provide these people with
information that they want
and need.
The information has to be
credible and original and up
to date.
By that I mean the information
that you're putting out there
is "as of right now."
4. There are slow modems
out there.
Hard to believe but not all
your visitors will have access
to broadband or a T1 line.
So your website that is full of
heavy stuff like graphics and
animation may not load well
on slower internet connections
like a 56 Kbps one.
So you need to use graphics
in moderation and optimize
file sizes to make things
easier to load in the smallest
common denominator internet
connection.
************************************************************
A well organized and interactive
site with timely original content
can makes a big difference on
whether people will come or
not.
And creating your very own
site is not that hard to do,
even if you don't know a
single things about HTML.
Check out how here.
Your website is a reflection
of who you are.
Make one that tells your
visitors what you want
them to hear.
To your online success,
