your marketing cost while

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi Menno,

I've gone into internet marketing
and according to information
that I have looked into, I should
become an affiliate first so that
I earn money while I set up my
actual online business.

To that end, I was wondering
if you can tell me what I
should be looking for in
terms of signing up for
an affiliate program.

Thanks,

Mark H.

************************************************************

Going through an affiliate
program and becoming
an affiliate is not a bad
idea to start with.

It allows you to not only earn
money while working on your
own online business, but it
also gives you the chance
to get your feet wet before
you actually dive right in.

This way, you can try many
things without risking your
own product.

You do need to consider some
things first before you become
an affiliate of someone else.

************************************************************

1. What is the reputation
of the company, business,
or person(s) that is offering
the affiliate program.

NOT EVERYTHING in the
internet is true.

If it's too good to be true,
it probably is.

Just because the affiliate
program you are interested
in signing up for has a fancy
site doesn't mean they are
good for you.

You can just look for affiliate
programs yourself and sign
up with them directly.

Or you can use affiliate
directories like Commission
Junction or ClickBank.

These directories offer affiliate
programs from businesses or
person(s) that have been looked
over by these directories.

You can see, for example, how
long these affiliate programs
have been around.

Obviously the longer they have
been around, the more likely
they are a good entity to do
business with.

At the same time affiliate
directories, such as ClickBank
for example, require affiliate
programs to deposit funds
into an escrow account to
ensure payments.

What this does is giving you
an assurance that if you sell
something as an affiliate, you
will get paid automatically
without having to go through
the hassle of going after the
affiliate program.

************************************************************

2. Look for a unique product
that is in a ripe market.

Why do you need to do that?

Let's face it, you and about
a hundred others will be
signing up for the same
affiliate programs that may
be selling the same products.

Yes, this means that there
is a market for the product,
but this also means that
you will be sharing that
market with hundreds
of others.

As more and more people sign
up for the same affiliate program
selling the same product to the
same market, chances are
you won't be getting much
in the way of revenue.

So instead of doing that, why
not look for an affiliate program
that have unique products to
sell to a ready market.

But just because it's a unique
product you'll just jump right in.

Oh no.

Because it may be that the
product is too unique.

You also want to look at an
affiliate program's growth
potential.

Will there be an expanding
product line so your current
customers will keep coming
back to see what new things
are available?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

3. Look at the affiliate
agreement.

Before you do sign up for an
affiliate program go through
its affiliate agreement.

Look at the programs eligibility
requirements as well as any
and all applicable fees.

Look into their pay structure -
minimum payouts, how often,
and how it is to be paid.

Also look at the termination
clauses and what provisions
there are if you terminate it
or the other party did.

Do not hesitate to contact
the person(s) concerned
should you have a question.

And if they don't have an
affiliate agreement, be wary.

They may not be worth taking
the risk

************************************************************

When you do look at an
affiliate program, check to
see what you need to do
in order to get paid.

Is it Pay-Per-Lead, Pay-Per-
Click, or Pay-Per-Sale?

At the same time is it a one-
time commission or a lifetime
one?

And like I mentioned earlier,
using an affiliate network such
as Commission Junction or
ClickBank is recommended.

Not only so you get paid on
time but also for the other
services that they offer, like
real time 24 hours a day,
7 days a week rain or shine.

************************************************************

These tips are by no means
exhaustive.

Nor is it the only way to be
successful in the internet
marketing world.

You can make a living going
the affiliate route but nothing
is more satisfying than
creating and marketing
your OWN product

And whether you go the affiliate
route or have your own product
you will need to set up a
website to sell your product.

Check out how here.

Until next time,
