************************************************************
In the online world, email
marketing is one of the
more effective tools to not
only build relationships with
your customers but also to
build brand name awareness
and generate sales.
The thing is, even if you do
email marketing you may
not get the open rates that
you desire.
There are a couple of reasons
for this.
- The email providers may
have sent your message to
the SPAM folder.
- The recipient of the email
simply didn't get a reason to
open the message.
So what can you do to up
your message's chances
of being opened?
Well for starters you need
to get your message into
the inbox.
That means it has to get past
the spam blockers and/or
filters of your customer's
email provider.
How do you do that. Well for
starters don't use any SPAM
trigger words in your email
subject line.
These include but are not
limited to words such as
"free, stock, Ebay, password,
mortgage, etc."
Another way to get past the
SPAM filters is to get your
customer to put your emails
in their email whitelist.
This means they are telling
their email provider that all
messages coming from you
are allowed to be placed in
their email inbox.
However, don't be so happy
just because you got into
the inbox - although it is a
good first step.
Your next step is to actually
get your customer to open
the message.
It doesn't matter how well
written your email copy is,
how great the content is, or
how tantalizing the special
offer is - if your customer
doesn't open your email,
it's all for naught.
It comes down to your
subject line.
Try to put relevant and
important information in
your subject line that
emphasizes benefits.
Give your subject a sense
of urgency - that is time
sensitive and has an
element of scarcity in it.
"One spot left"
"Only 35 copies left"
"Ends tonight"
Are but some examples.
You can also connect that with
the fear of loss.
After all, fear of loss is a
big motivator for everyone -
we just don't want to lose
out on something.
They say curiosity killed the
cat but in your case curiosity
will make them open your
message.
A good way to use curiosity
is to tempt your customers
by implying that the answer
to your tease is in the email
message.
Remember, your goal here is
to pique the interest of your
customers enough so they
will WANT to open your
message.
There are more ways to deal
with open rates of your email
marketing campaign but that

process and what your goals
