with ease and attract buyers
like a magnet by discovering
profitable niches with less
competition.
************************************************************
I have received quite a few
emails from you concerning
the subject of niche marketing
as part of an overall online
marketing strategy.
Let me start by saying that
choosing your niche market
is an important first step in
your online marketing strategy.
Let's face it, the right niche
can make or break your
business whether you are
marketing a product, a service
or even providing niche content.
Building a site with content
that's focused on your niche
will help you reach the people
(and potential customers)
who are interested in buying
what you're offering.
For start ups such as yourself
for example, it is a way to sell
to a smaller market with
success.
It is, in a way, a strategy for
competing against the big
boys without directly being
in competition with them.
So how do you begin finding
your niche?
Let's talk about that.
************************************************************
1. What are you going to do?
What are you good at?
Or what are you really into?
Or passionate about?
Online marketing requires
your own undivided attention
and loyalty to make it work.
If you don't have enthusiasm
for what you're going to be
offering online then it may
not work right.
You need to manage a lot
of things - website, traffic,
promotions, etc. - so you
need to enjoy it so it doesn't
drag you down.
So if you're into web making
and design then make that
your offering.
Start with a general subject
first then work your way
down.
************************************************************
2. Know your market
Before you swim in a pool
you do a couple of things
first right?
You make sure you are
wearing the proper gear
and you see if the water
is cold or not.
Regardless of what your
before-swimming ritual is
you don't just jump right in.
Even if you're a good
swimmer.
The same is true when you go
online, and more so because
you will be investing a lot of
your time and resources so
you will be risking a good
amount.
Now is the time to fine tune
what you're offering and to
whom.
*Is there sufficient demand
for your offering?
*And what exactly are your
potential customers
searching for.
At the same time analyze
the competitors that are
already there and the
products or services
they offer.
See if their offerings attract
the same customers you will.
Use that as a guide to
specialize your offering.
You may need to change
some aspects of what you're
offering so keep that in mind.
Look for the competitive
edge by adding value to
your offering, even if it is
based on something that
is already there.
Don't make it harder on
yourself by re-inventing
the wheel.
************************************************************
3. Set up your site and
target YOUR customers
Once you've defined your
niche market, you need to
have a number of informative
pages set up.
This is so you will not only
attract visitors from the search
engines, but inform and make
them get your offering.
Speak what your customers
are speaking - speak their
language.
You need to speak as a
member of that customer
base.
It's not just a matter of
translation. It's also the
meaning behind the
translation that you
need to look at.
************************************************************
And just because everything
is set doesn't mean you can
rest on your laurels.
This is actually when the fun
starts.
Now you have to evaluate how
you're doing against your
competitors and play around
with your offering so you
pull in your customers.

you, your product and your
market niche.
